Bellevue Strategies Congratulates Partners on $5 Million in Community Project Funding

Philadelphia, PA − Bellevue Strategies congratulates clients who have been selected to receive almost $5 million in Community Project Funding, or earmark funding, which will go to projects across the Commonwealth. 

“Our clients provide critical services to residents of the Commonwealth and we are thrilled to see them selected to make it to the next round of Community Project Funding from the federal government,” said Mustafa Rashed, President and CEO of Bellevue Strategies. “The projects selected create housing support programs, food insecurity relief, and expand transportation and infrastructure connectivity — all of which are central to improving communities here in Southeastern Pennsylvania. We are excited for our clients as they take this next step and proud to have advocated alongside them during this process. ”

The Community Project Funding (CPF), or earmark funding is completed through a member of Congress through the annual appropriations process for eligible nonprofits and state and local governments. Formally known as “earmarked funds,” now known as  “Community Project Funding,” Members of Congress can now drive federal spending to worthy projects in their district or home state. 

Client projects selected include:

  • $1,000,000 for Philadelphia Youth Basketball’s Youth Development & Community Empowerment Center: The funding will go to the future Youth Development & Community Empowerment Center will work to combine the potential of basketball, academic enrichment, leadership and character development, family engagement, and skilled coaching and mentorship to have transformative power in the lives of kids and communities in the City of Philadelphia.  
      • Philadelphia Youth Basketball’s youth empowerment center was selected by Representative Dwight Evans for a CPF.
  • $1,000,000  for the Share Food Program’s initiatives to improve healthy food access: which include distributing nourishing food to hundreds of partner pantries in Southeastern PA, who serve individuals and families in greatest need. The funding would be used to help replace the Share Food Program’s deteriorated warehouse roof and install onsite solar energy capabilities to increase sustainability initiatives.
      • Share Food Program’s initiative was selected by Representative Dwight Evans for a CPF. 
  • $1,000,000 for The Enterprise Center’s West Philadelphia’s 52nd Street Corridor Initiative: This funding would be utilized to enhance and rebuild Philadelphia’s 52nd Street as an economic hub for small businesses owned by people of color as well as a destination for local arts and cultural experiences. 
      • The Enterprise Center’s initiative was selected by Representative Dwight Evans for a CPF. 
  • $745,000 for Upper Darby Township’s Walnut Street Multimodal Connectivity Project: which would connect Walnut Street from Garrett Road to 69th Street, connecting critical roadways for residents of Upper Darby and Delaware County. 
      • Upper Darby Township’s connectivity project was selected by Representative Mary Gay Scanlon for a CPF.
  • $350,000 for the Urban League of Philadelphia’s Housing Counseling Program: The program provides housing support for predominantly Black, Latino, and underserved Philadelphians. This program at the  Urban League of Philadelphia aims to help the city’s most vulnerable renters avoid homelessness and displacement.
      • Urban League of Philadelphia’s program was selected by Representative Brendan Boyle for a CPF.
