Anne Nadol

Senior Advisor

Anne K. Nadol served as Commerce Director for the City of Philadelphia from 2022-2024, overseeing the economic catalyst for the City of Philadelphia.   During her tenure, the Department successfully completed significant business attractions and retentions, established the Office of Policy and Strategic Initiatives to develop and advocate for business-friendly policies, systems and programs throughout City government; launched incentive programs including the Quality Jobs Program; expanded the Taking Care of Business program, and Workforce Development programming and reporting; refined performance measures for the Department and partner organizations funded by Commerce, and expanded public-private partnerships to drive and uplift the City’s economy.

Prior to joining the City, Ms. Nadol served for over 20 years at one the country’s largest public universities, most recently as Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees of Temple University.   While serving as Vice President, Ms. Nadol also functioned as the Chief of Staff to the President, and served as an officer of the Board of Trustees and of the University.  

As Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Ms. Nadol oversaw the modernization of Board operations, revamped the Board orientation program to focus on governance best practices, and served as the principal liaison with Board leadership, and 36 individual trustees.

At Temple University, Ms. Nadol served under five presidents, and was involved in significant university-wide initiatives, including the review of the University’s sexual assault policies and disciplinary process, Middle States Accreditations, an NCAA Recertification, and multiple strategic planning initiatives.  

Prior to joining Temple University, Ms. Nadol served as Special Assistant to the Mayor and Assistant Deputy Mayor for Philadelphia Mayor Edward G. Rendell, working directly with the Mayor to coordinate among state and local elected officials, City department heads, and other senior managers to resolve critical and time-sensitive issues.  She co-directed preparation of the City’s Five-Year Financial Plan, and served as the principal staff member for Citywide strategic planning initiative.   Prior to joining the City of Philadelphia, Ms. Nadol served as a Presidential Management Fellow in the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce as an International Trade Specialist.

Ms. Nadol holds two degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: a Master’s of Government Administration from the Fels Institute of Government and a Master’s in International Relations from the Political Science Department, as well as a B.A. in Government from Franklin & Marshall College.
