♟️CITY OF PHILADELPHIA
Parker Administration
On Monday, Parker joined Creative Philadelphia and the Smokin' Joe Frazier Championship Foundation for the unveiling of Frazier's statue at its new permanent location at the base of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps, honoring the heavyweight champion's enduring legacy and his impact on the city and the sport of boxing.
Parker joined the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation (PHDC), the Philadelphia Land Bank, and the Urban Developers Association for a groundbreaking event marking the start of 90 new affordable Turn the Key homes in West Philadelphia.
Also on Tuesday, the administration announced that the Office of Property Assessment will begin mailing Tax Year 2027 property valuations to homeowners. For the median-valued residential property, the estimated change in the real estate tax bill is approximately $97. The announcement was tied with an expanded outreach campaign from the Department of Revenue to connect homeowners — particularly seniors and low-income residents — with tax relief programs including the Homestead Exemption, the Senior Tax Freeze, and the Longtime Owner Occupants Program (LOOP).
On the 250th anniversary of the Continental Congress' vote for independence, Parker led more than 100 bipartisan mayors in a Historic March of America's Mayors — gathering at Independence Hall before marching to the Museum of the American Revolution for a ‘We the People’ symposium.
Parker announced the recipients of the Philadelphia Freedom Awards, which will be presented during the city's July 4th Celebration of Freedom on Independence Mall, honoring seven civic leaders whose service and commitment to the city represent the ideals of freedom.
COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA
Shapiro Administration
With the June 30 budget deadline now passed without a deal, Governor Shapiro limited his public appearances this week, delivering remarks alongside Mayor Parker at a mayors' conference at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia before returning to Harrisburg to focus on closed-door budget negotiations. As of this writing, a deal has not yet been reached, and talks between the Administration and legislative leaders are ongoing.

Events & Press Conferences:As PJM issued an emergency amid the heat wave looming across the eastern United States, House Republicans said the emergency reflects a growing supply-and-demand imbalance driven by Pennsylvania's participation in RGGI since 2019. They highlighted that the state has had no new thermal generation since then, while neighboring states have drawn down their own power generation even as they import power from Pennsylvania through the PJM network — all pushing electricity costs higher and risking regional adequacy shortfalls by 2030. In response, they unveiled a 10-bill package to prioritize in-state coal, natural gas, and nuclear development, streamline permitting and regulatory hurdles for developers, and get state government “out of the energy market,” framing this as the path to keeping costs down.
